Joseph Kuester

Undergrad student

I am a current senior at Dartmouth College from Atlanta, Georgia, majoring in physics and music. I am interested in plasma physics as it applies to fusion, specifically with fine-tuning magnetic confinement fusion through theory and computation work. I plan on applying for PhD positions in physics during this upcoming cycle. Outside of physics, I am a huge music nerd; I listen to everything from late Austrio-German romanticism to hardcore punk and free jazz. In my free time I like to run, compose music, and read mystery novels.

My summer research was supported by the Arthur L. Irving Institute for Energy and Society Student Grant program at Dartmouth College. I worked on simulations of the gas dynamic trap (GDT) fusion configuration under the mentorship of Dr. Yichen Fu and Professor Ben Zhu at Columbia University.
